Call for 2023 Proposals

Submit Your Proposal and Prepare Nursing Leaders for What’s Next!

The nursing profession is facing a future where a new patient care dynamic is taking shape, with accelerated health care developments, heightened staffing expectations and capabilities, and a community of professionals whose commitment is being put to the test.

For the 2023 AWHONN Convention, June 17-21 in New Orleans, LA, we are challenging participants to Get Ready for What’s Next and are looking for industry leaders who can share pioneering methods to address current and diverse challenges, explore methods of translating diversity, equity, and inclusion concepts, and instruct how to address injustices that impact health and well-being using interprofessional collaboration.

At this time, we are accepting proposals for posters and podium presentations. Convention proposal submissions should be timely, relevant, and evidence-based topics that feature best practices in education, research, clinical practice, and leadership intended to engage our participants and assist AWHONN nurses to thrive in today’s ever-changing global health care environment.

Categories:

  • Education: evidence-based content that promotes inclusive educational programs and processes for women, birthing people of diverse gender identities, newborns, families, or nurses.
  • Practice: evidence-based clinical content related to inclusive nursing care provided for women, birthing people of diverse gender identities, and newborns. A completed project may or may not include a formal evidence-based practice process (e.g., Iowa Model, Johns Hopkins, etc.).
  • Leadership: evidence-based content related to advocating for resolutions that impact inclusive nursing care of women, birthing people of diverse gender identities, and newborns.

For studies currently undergoing data collection or analysis, a clear plan and timeline should be addressed as well as any preliminary findings. The timeline should account for the completion of the research study by the time of submitting the final presentation slides.
